Sunny Ogbonnaya, BS (Pharmacy), MBA, Pharm.D, FACHE. Sunny has over 25 years of not-for-profit and for-profit leadership experience in Retail/Community, Consulting, and Hospital pharmacy operations. He currently serves as the Administrative Director of Outpatient Pharmacies and Pharmacy Business at Harris Health System. Sunny has led multidisciplinary team effort to significantly improve quality, patient safety, reduce cost, improve efficiency and establish new operations.
Sunny received his Bachelors and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Texas Southern University, Master’s in Business Administration degree from Texas Woman’s University. A Fellow of American College of Healthcare Executives, and Board certified in Healthcare Administration. He earned Lean Six Sigma Green and Black Belts from San Jacinto College, Houston, Texas.
Sunny is a progressive leader, and has served in various leadership roles in healthcare organizations. He has multiple awards from Innovation Network at Harris Health System. Sunny has presented multiple primary research projects including but not limited to: Comparative Assessment of Pharmaceutical Care Services Provided to Drive-Through versus In-Store patients in Community Pharmacies; Always Know 3: A Patient Empowerment Approach to Improving Communication About Medicine in a Community Teaching Hospital; Pharmacy-Led Improved Medication Reconciliation Compliance in Health Systems; Implementation of In-House Overnight Prescription processing service to Improve Patient Care, and wait/turnaround times in a County Hospital.
Sunny is a member of ACHE, ASHP, APHA, TSHP, TPA, Gulf-Coast Society of Health System Pharmacists.
